FAQ
Straight Answers About Newsibly.
Newsibly is built to help readers discover important reporting faster while sending that attention back to the publishers doing the work.
What Is Newsibly?
Newsibly is designed to help New Zealanders keep track of a broader range of news sources without having to rely on the same outlets every time they check the news. It brings together fresh reporting in one place so readers can discover more variety, compare coverage, and stay across important stories more efficiently.
Newsibly is a new service and remains under active development. Over time, we also plan to expand it into a central hub for political coverage, making it easier for New Zealanders to stay informed about Parliament, policy, and public debate in one place.
How Are Articles Ranked?
Articles are ranked by a complex, impartial AI algorithm, not by manual selection, based on subject matter and likely importance to New Zealand readers, not by political view, publisher, or whether we agree with the story. The system looks at the headline, excerpt, source, publish time, and context, then scores the article based on how relevant, useful, or significant it appears to be.
That means major national news, public safety, politics, the economy, and stories with broad impact usually rank higher. Lighter, niche, or promotional stories usually rank lower. We also avoid automatically downgrading stories just because they are about sport, local news, Māori, Pacific, rural, or culture if they are genuinely important.
Use Top Stories for the AI-curated feed, or Latest for chronological browsing.
Does Newsibly Host Or Own The Articles?
No. The underlying articles belong to their original publishers and rights holders. Newsibly is an aggregator and referral service that is designed to send readers through to publisher sites, helping surface more traffic for the outlets doing the reporting rather than hijacking their views.
Why Do Article Clicks Send Me To Another Site?
Because the original publisher should receive the reader visit. Newsibly points you to the source article so the publication keeps the traffic, attribution, and reader relationship tied to its reporting.

Do You Have A Mobile App?
Not as a separate App Store or Google Play app right now. Newsibly works perfectly well saved as a pseudo app to your phone's home screen from the browser.
On iPhone, open Newsibly in your browser, tap the share or menu button, then choose Add to Home Screen. Once added, it opens in a clean app-style window.
On Android, open Newsibly in your browser, open the menu, then choose Install app or Add to Home screen. If your phone offers both, Install app opens Newsibly in an app-style window, while Add to Home screen keeps it opening in your normal browser.
If you have signed in within the last 7 days, Newsibly should log you in automatically when you open it again.
Do I Need An Account Right Now?
Yes. You currently need an account to access the full Newsibly experience. Features, coverage, and performance will continue to improve as the product evolves.
